  High res (0.9º) motors
At this point, you should have determined:

  • your payload weight,
  • linear translation speed range
  • lead screw pitch
  • If not, go here

From one of the next two graphs, determine the required minimum torque.

Then choose a motor with sufficient minimum torque out to the maximum step rate necessary to reach you top speed. Recheck the step rate - linear speed table to make sure you achieve the desired top speed.

Step Motor Torque-Speed Curves

These graphs display step motor torque vs shaft speed for different motors used with VXM controllers to drive UniSlide, BiSlide or XSlide positioning equipment. Note "Steps/Sec." are for 1.8° motors running half-step mode or 400 steps per revolution. We also have 0.9° motors. They offer twice the resolution at half the speed. Please call for curves of other motors.
